CISV World Volunteers
Since 1951, CISV has been offering a range of local activities, international camps, family hosted exchanges and community based projects.
Every year volunteers organise programmes of activities and this year St Anne’s had the
pleasure of hosting 22 world volunteers (from Spain , Portugal, Brazil, Chez Republic Belgium, Germany, England and France) in our Homeless services in Leeds. They came every day from Tuesday 3 January and supported clients to enrol at our RAISE homeless day service for the education classes that are run daily from the service at St Anne’s Resource Centre. They provided activities at Holdforth Court men’s hostel each day which involved planning menus, shopping on a budget, preparing meals from around the world and enjoying the company of all whilst eating the delights.
On Saturday 7 January 2012, a cultural day was held at Holdforth Court where everyone from both homeless services were invited to join in world games, listen to music from around the world and taste the fantastic food on offer. The whole week was amazing for clients, staff and the volunteers and the sharing of experiences will be remembered by all.
The volunteers have put together their own newsletter which can be viewed by clicking on the link below.
