Kelso Road
New service for people with learning disabilities in Leeds
Kelso Road was a traditional care home and it closed down as it was unsuitable for the people who lived there due to their infirmity. They went to live in new accommodation that had more ground floor space.

Significant reconfiguration of the property took place with the outer shell the only familiar part left during the renovations. A number of innovative approaches were put into the service particularly around energy saving and ease of maintenance. The home has solar water heating and a heat regeneration system designed to ensure the tenants can manage their utility bills in a large Victorian Property.
The service has been designed for 4 young adults with learning disabilities who have a variety of complex behaviours requiring support. The service opened in April 2009.
Pictured are 3 of the tenants who were happy to be pictured proudly in front of their new home!.
