St Anne's Silver Street respite service has been in operation for approximately six months now, and the guests,
parents and carers all decided that it needed a name, so after some deliberation and numerous suggestions, ‘The Brambles’ was chosen. The naming ceremony took place on 21 January 2010.
Many people turned out on this very cold January day, including Nick Miles ‘Jimmy King’ Emmerdale, who very kindly gave up some of his time to perform the unveiling of the superb grey slate plaque, inscribed with ‘The Brambles’, very kindly donated by one of the guest’s parents, Mr and Mrs Owen. All who attended helped to raise funds to purchase TV/DVD for all bedrooms. Nick very kindly donated money to purchase one for one of the rooms.
The day itself was a huge success and it appeared all those that attended seem to go home with something, however this couldn’t have been achieved had it not been for the generosity of donations for the raffle and tombola along with cakes buns etc, not forgetting the 'name the bear' and 'guess the weight of the cake'. There were also a variety of quizzes and the grand auction of a home made three tiered chocolate cake, these had all been donated by families and friends and by a devoted and dedicated team that works at ‘The Brambles’ so a huge thank you to: Vicky, Jill, Debi, Cherry, Colleen, Claire, Amy, Saskia, Sarah, Katrina, Debbie, Dawn, Jacqui, Kim, Eddie.
