Leeds Learning Disabilities Service
Mark Fennelly, Anne Pickard, Diane Barker, Kate Brennan, Sarah Lowe, Thomas Snape and Edita Paliulionyte from the Leeds Learning Disability services have been given a Top Team Award by SMT in recognition of the work they all put in to the development of an in - house leisure service in Leeds.
After being informed that Leeds Adult Social Care had to make efficiencies and that a number
of Day Centres for people with learning disabilities were to close, this group of managers came together and took a proactive and creative approach into developing a flexible community based model of day care for our clients.
This took an enormous amount of work; ensuring the completion of client individual reviews, communicating with clients and staff and undertaking Management of Change processes where needed. Through close liaison with care management they have created a range of both building based and community based leisure and educational activities to meet the needs of clients and the efficiencies required.
