The North Kirklees Supported Living service have been awarded a Top Team award for working creatively and innovatively to ensure that clients are fully involved in the service and can participate within their wider community. This is a fantastic example of a team clearly focused on client outcomes and workingwell together to achieve these.
The Manager Angela Clarke and her team ( pictured) were surprised at their team meeting by Karen Newsome Director of Operations who came to present the award on behalf of the Senior Management team.
The team have worked hard together to develop the client newsletterwith particular input from team members Elaine Newsome and Paul Wilson. This has gone from strength to strength and as a result of the newslettermeetings it was identified, by clients, that they no longer get the opportunity to go on social activities. The teamidentified that funding was a real issue but worked together to over come this obstacle..
Angela, who nominated the team states that ‘Not letting this be a barrier to the clients request, the team suggested quarterly educational outings which the clients thought was a really good idea. The team have taken time, with clients, to identify suitable places to visit and have supported clients to several museums, over the past year’
Not only that the team realised that some clients were not in a financial position to participate in the quarterly visits and held a fundraising event which took place on 19th July. They ensured that clients were supported to participate in the running of the stall and took turns in supporting on the day and raised over £130.
This is such an example of being creative and innovative and working together to overcome obstacles for the benefit of clients which is to be commended. It is clear that North Kirklees Supported living team are youdoing so much to work towards ensuring clients participate within their community and also the wider community and are involved within their service.
Thank you and congratulations to you all.
