From 5–7 July, the Tour de France Grand Départ , the first three stages of the Tour, took riders through the stunning scenery of Yorkshire, on to Cambridge and, finally, to London
Here at St Anne’s after a very successful ‘St Anne’s the Games’ which took place to celebrate the London Olympics 2012 - we wanted to be part of another great sporting event for everyone to enjoy!
We wanted St Anne’s to rise to the occasionso that this wouldbe a Grand Départ to remember. We also saw it as a wonderful way to promote health and well being, community spirit, reduce isolation and provide an opportunity for fund raising for everyone!.
So in celebration of this great sporting event, we announced the launch of‘ Tour de St Anne’s’
We asked all teams, staff and clients to rise to the challenge and get involved, which is just what you did!
So many events took place right across the organisation. These ranged from Sponsored bike rides to spinning events such as wheelchair walks to cycling to work. Also ‘ Tour de St Anne’s’ race parties took place with French and Yorkshire themes, picnics, discos and cake stalls to name a few. Memorabilia in the form of flags, certificates, and sponsorship forms proudly displaying the ‘Tour de St Anne’s Logo’ were also made available to promote St Anne’s involvement in this event.
So much effort was put in to ensure every one benefitted in so many ways, be it sampling different food/cultures, getting involved in games/activities or just enjoying being together and having fun.
Thank you all for your fantastic efforts. Its amazing how just one small idea can make such a difference to peoples lives via your energy and enthusiasm. Also particular thanks is due to Janette Care and Helen Gabrielli for co-ordinating everything so well and effortlessly with of course the invaluable support of all the admin team!!
We have put together a Tour de St Anne's newsletter to show all of the events that took place.
