PBS win Special Award for Outstanding Practice

On Thursday 4 May 2017 it was the BILD PBS leadership awards dinner held in Bristol

Andy Lees, Matt Jones and Jess Dyson of St Anne’s Community Services

The awards are a part of BILD’s annual PBS Research and Practice Conference, and a celebration of the best in positive behaviour practice both in the UK and internationally.

The BILD PBS Leadership Awards recognise good practice and contributions to the development of positive behaviour support practice and aim to raise practice by recognising work of quality and quality of contribution over time.

“The work we are recognising in this award involved the development of a successful Positive Behaviour Support Plan to support an individual in a mental health setting with a history of significant self-harm and suicidal thinking and behaviour.
As well as creating a series of bespoke reactive and recovery strategies backed by environmental risk assessments ensuring a Mental Capacity and Deprivation of Liberty focus, a wider staff group was then trained to deliver the PBS plan for this individual.

This team of support workers demonstrated on a daily basis, in extreme circumstances, their care and concern, their empathy and their PBS values.”
