Shady Trees Nursing Respite Service

Shady Trees provides nursing respite care for adults with learning disabilities and complex needs

Shady Trees is a purpose built bungalow with four bedrooms which are furbished to a high standard and are personalised to the staying guest as far as possible. We currently provide regular respite for 24 guests.

The Guests

All guests must be 18 years old or over; they also need to a access day service of some description on a Monday to Friday basis as Shady Trees is closed during the week from 10.00am – 3.30pm.

Our guests stay on a regular basis and have a number of nights per year which are allocated in advance. We aim to be as flexible as possible with families requests to ensure that we offer a person centred service for everyone.

The service holds family and carers meetings throughout the year to enable the service to continue to develop and provide a service that meets the need of guests and their families.

We provide social/leisure activities at weekends and some evenings.

Our staff team work closely with guests, their families, professionals as well as day services to ensure continuity of care.

Shady Trees has a qualified nurse on duty at all times we are open, as well as a highly motivated and experienced team who ensure guests have a safe, pleasant and relaxing stay. Activities with clients can include (but is not limited to):

  • Meals out
  • Cinema
  • Sensory therapy
  • Walks
  • Pubs
