The building consists of 2 inter connected semi detached bungalows which have been purpose built to meet the physical needs of the clients residing there. Astbury is situated in a quiet residential area of Middlesbrough. Astbury is approximately 4 miles from Middlesbrough Town Centre and is in close proximity to the local hospital, cinemas, shopping centres and local train station.
Aims and Objectives of the Service
Astbury aims to offer a relaxed and homely environment with a strong emphasis on providing person centred support to the people that live there. We aim to provide high quality care and support that is based upon evidence based practice. The philosophy of the service is to focus upon how clients wish to live their lives and that all support provided takes into account clients wishes, needs, choices and aspirations. We strive to involve and consult with clients as far as possible in the running of their home. We aim to support clients to maintain meaningful relationships with family and friends and promote community inclusion and presence.
What does the Service offer
Astbury is purpose built to meet the needs of clients with physical disabilities. Facilities available at Astbury include spacious communal areas including 2 homely lounges and 2 separate kitchens with dining areas attached. There is a large rear garden with patio areas and raised flower beds.
There are overhead ceiling tracking hoists located in various areas of the building including bedrooms and bathrooms. There are also specialist bathing and separate shower facilities available. The service has 2 adapted vehicles which are suitable for wheelchair users.
Who should be referred to this service?
Adults with learning disabilities and complex needs aged between 18-65 years old.
Who can refer?
Referrals for admission are organised through the care management arrangements within the Middlesbrough Integrated Learning Disabilities Team.
