A PLACE OF MY OWN For those service users who wish for more independence but with the security of regular visits from trained staff, then St. Anne's Supported Housing Service offers just that. With facilities ranging from shared accommodation to single person flats there are over 150 places available in Leeds, Huddersfield, Dewsbury and Sheffield. The majority of the service users are people with mental health problems but we also accommodate people with learning disabilities and substance use problems who have been homeless in a service of which we are rightly proud. Everyone has at least a bedroom of their own. Some share facilities such as kitchens and bathrooms, the majority live in self contained units; but all service users enjoy the independence that having their own front door gives them with the knowledge that should a crisis occur there is always someone to call on. Our staff help service users with the whole range of housing related support required to successfully sustain a tenancy as well as with access to community facilities, day care and specialist services provided by other agencies. Support is individually geared to the needs and wishes of the tenants. For some it is a routine visit once a week, for others, much higher levels of support involving shopping, cooking or the maintenance of a non-drinking programme.
