Holdforth Court Hostel, Leeds

Cooking at Holdforth CourtHoldforth Court (link to leaflet) is a 36-bedded hostel in the centre of Leeds for single homeless adult men. Opened in 1994, Holdforth Court was purpose built as part of the re-provision of the Shaftesbury House Hostel. The Hostel provides good quality single room accommodation, 24 hour staffing, a safe environment in secure premises, self-catering kitchen facilities (3 kitchens that clients can book time in and 2 training kitchens) and the opportunity to break free from the homeless lifestyle.

The aim of Holdforth Court is to look at the immediate and future needs of single homeless men. Referrals can only be made through Leeds City Council’s Housing Options service. Following assessment, the clients work towards finding suitable accommodation with their key worker as part of a structured resettlement plan.

Bevin Court Hostel, Sheffield

Bevin Court is a hostel for homeless men aged 18+ who need temporary accommodation. For those who need it, the hostel provides immediate accommodation, support, advice, encouragement, education, but the main aim is to help people to find their own secure accommodation which is appropriate for their needs and preferences.

Bevin Court staff will help as much as they can with clients' issues. If they are not able to help directly, they will be able to put clients in touch with someone who can. A Key Worker system is in operation, which means each client has 2 or 3 named workers they can discuss issues or problems with. Key Workers will help to produce a support plan designed to help people achieve their goals or just to work things through.

Resettlement Workers are available to help clients to find their own accommodation, apply for grants, and to support clients once they have a flat. There are weekly training sessions to help people to budget, develop cooking skills and to maintain a healthy diet.
