Shared Lives

St Anne's Shared Lives service

Moving into a family placementOur aim is to recruit carers who can offer a permanent home to an adult with learning disabilities. This used to be called adult placement and is now called Shared Lives.

We have a wide range of carers from all parts of Leeds, with a variety of skills and backgrounds. Carers include: families with children; single people of all ages; single sex couples; couples whose children have grown up and those from BME communities. This variety makes it possible to identify carers who can meet the particular needs of individual service users.

Potential carers undergo a thorough assessment process to ensure that only the most suitable people are approved. Once approved they will provide:

  • a room in their home
  • all meals
  • any care and support that is required
  • full involvement in their family and social life

All arrangements are overseen by a scheme worker to ensure that the service users’ needs continue to be met and that the carer receives the necessary support.

The scheme has been established for over 15 years and currently has over 50 service users living with carers.

If you are interested in becoming a carer please go to the Vacancies page.
