What do I do?
My role is to support our clients in whatever areas of life they need support with such as personal care, support with finances, household tasks and achieving their individual goals. Recently, I have become a member of our infection control and prevention team and have supported staff through all the necessary changes to ensure we work to high standards in this area.
I love my job because….
Every day is new. New challenges arise all the time and I enjoy finding ways to approach these positively, to the best of my abilities and to the benefit of our clients.
The best part of my job is when I get to try something new with a client and I get to see theirreaction. I have taken clients ice skating for the first time as well as taking them to fly kites and watch stock car racing, which have all been new experiences for the client. I have received some really positive reactions and feedback from families.
What have you gained from working for St Anne’s?
Since joining St Anne’s, I have gained numerous skills and knowledge through the trainingprovided. I have also gained an NVQ Level 3 in Health and Social Care which has enabled me to take on more responsibilities within the team.
What can I look forward to?
I have recently returned to college so that I can gain the qualifications needed to go to university to study Adult Nursing at a degree level, with the hope of becoming a Nurse specialising in accident and emergency. Since joining St Anne’s, I have developed a great range of skills and knowledge which has enabled my confidence to grow. I am currently part of St Anne’s Management Development Programme.
My manager, site co-ordinator and staff team have always been supportive with any goals I have set for myself and have assisted me whenever possible to achieve them.
