We’re proud to have come to the aid of our homeless clients by supporting them into alternative accommodation and living provisions during the Covid-19 outbreak.
Our amazing staff teams have safely supported homeless people into new accommodation, those who would normally access our Resource Centre on York Street, Leeds, which has sadly had to temporarily closed during this time. Working closely with the Leeds City Council, we have worked tirelessly in supporting the transition into alternative accommodation for their homeless clients during this lockdown period.
Our team have gone above and beyond in showing our commitment to providing excellent care for some of the city’s most vulnerable people by adapting their services and working in a whole new way to meet the needs of our clients. We will now, in a brand-new way, be able to carry out our services for people including emotional support, partnering with external agencies for additional assistance, working with drugs and alcohol services, redirection and delivery of their mail from the Resource Centre and preparation and delivery of food.
Without the new safe accommodation, the alternative would have meant people sleeping rough on the streets of Leeds, and unable to access any of the services normally provided by our Resource Centre. Lyndsay Swales, Area Manager for Leeds and Sheffield at St. Anne’s, said: “I am extremely proud of the team who have worked so hard on this initiative over the past few weeks. They have shown their utmost commitment to providing their clients, even in these very extraordinary times.
“The team’s ability to adapt and move quickly has left me completely in awe, and it is down to those individuals that we have been able to transfer our services to meet the needs of those who desperately need support.
“The positive response I have had from staff has been overwhelming. We have asked staff to work in a completely different way and quickly establish new processes which everyone has responded to amazingly and I would like to thank them all for their hard work and dedication.
“Thank you also to Leeds City Council for providing our clients with the accommodation which has enabled us to transition our services to ensure we can still look after and provide support to the people we care for every day.”
A huge well done and thank you for everyone involved in this amazing initiative which will make such a difference to our clients!
