Beth Atkinson was nominated by her Manager Lisa Monaghan who manages our Transitions service in Leeds.
In her nomination Lisa stated that…” Beth transferred to Leeds Transitions service last year from floating outreach. At the time of her transferring, Transitions was a fairly new service and I was a Manager in probation. Beth came to my service with little experience of complex care needs and also how the service worked.
During her time in this post she has worked extremely hard to get to know how the service works and to manage staffing issues and client complex needs which are different to what she was used to in her previous post.
Beth has demonstrated an exceptional work ethic and has embraced every challenge there has been. She is professional, organised and reliable which helps me enormously to run the service and also to build relationships with families and clients.
Recently Beth attended a review with myself for a client in the service. The client and his Mum were present and the meeting was discussing some difficult issues around support and outcomes. After this meeting, the client commented on how much he liked Beth and Mum said how professional she was. This is testament to the drive Beth has to make our service a success.
A large part of our current work is to move our service online as part of the STARRS (St Anne’s Real-time Records System ) pilot. This means building client sites, transferring data, building a management site, adding staff details and making everything compliant with Information governance, all within Microsoft office 365. Beth has worked tirelessly to do all this work for our service and also for the domiciliary care service. She has liaised with floating outreach and through her own self-learning and determination she has built all the infrastructure needed for us to access information online.
This has completely revolutionised our work means that our community based staff team can access client information through their work phones securely. They can complete daily notes without having to come into the office which gives us real-time information and keeps everyone updated. This is improving our support for clients. Without Beth’s input I would not have been able to implement this throughout our service.
Beth has built a management site that allows us to work more efficiently as a team. We can update sickness, record telephone calls and ensure anything that requires actioning is done through an online ‘to-do’ list. Her organisational skills have improved communication and this is an area that is vital to providing an excellent service to Clients and their families.
As a new manager it is important to me that I have good support from my deputy and if I need something doing that I can trust it is actioned as soon as possible and with precision. I can rely on Beth to do this and it makes a huge difference to my well-being to know she will be on hand to help.
Moving to a different service is challenging and it is always difficult being new. Beth has fit in very well as part of the team and it a credit to her that she is consistently wanting to learn more and improve things for our clients.
Her ideas and skills are an asset to my service but also to St Anne’s. She deserves the recognition for her exceptional work especially with the STARRS (St Anne’s Real-time Records System ) pilot it really is making a huge difference to the work that we do”.
This nomination is a great example of a member of staff making a difference every day in every way, for Clients, their families and the staff team.
Beth is a very worthy winner and I am pleased to announce her as Employee of the Month.
