Julie Gibson was shortlisted for the Yorkshire and Humberside Great British Care Awards in recognition of her contribution to Calderdale St Anne’s Dignity Group. Julie has led the group for a number of years and worked tirelessly both raising the profile of dignity within services and organising events for clients including themed parties, she is currently setting up a group focusing on health and well-being.
The awards were held at The Queens Hotel in Leeds and attended by a range of service providers based in the North of England. Julie (who is the manager of Thornhill Road Nursing Home) was accompanied by Ian Stewart and Michael Ludlam who are both members of the dignity group, as well as her manager Karen Parrish (Area Manager for Calderdale) and colleague Gerard Wainwright (manager of Heatherstones Nursing Home), her daughter Harriet Gibson, was also present, as well as Derek Bray (Chief Executive), Susie McGuire (Director of Operations and Deputy CEO), Sara Kirkwood (Interim Quality & Safety Consultant) and Helen Simpson (Finance Director).
The event was black tie and guests and nominees were greeted with a champagne reception, followed by a three course meal. It was a fantastic evening for everyone who took part with money being raised for Silver Line throughout evening. There were a number of awards recognising exceptional contributions in care, including The Good Nurse Award, The Care Home Innovator Award, The Registered Manager Award, The Dignity in Care Award and The Outstanding Contribution to Social Care Award. St Anne’s were fortunate to have runners up in two of these categories, as Marnie Walker of Oxfield Court, who was not present on the night came runner up in the Innovator category for her lead role in the Doing It My Way project. It was fantastic to be part of such an evening, and for two members of staff from St Anne’s to be acknowledged in this way
Well done to Julie and Marnie for their incredible work, and lets hope we can have a greater presence at next years awards in recognition of some of the outstanding work taking place within the organisation.
