On Friday 19th August the Conference Room at our Head Office building in Leeds was transformed for one day only in to a vibrant art exhibition that was as diverse and interesting as the people we support across Yorkshire and the North East.
Client Involvement Officer Eleanor Broadbent and Regional Operations Manager Mark Fennelly decided to host the event to recognise the exceptional talents of the many people who use St Anne’s services. Over 50 visitors gathered for the exhibition with many clients, parents, carers and staff dropping by throughout the afternoon.
The exhibition boasted line drawings, ceramics, sculpture, acrylic paints, paper crafts, collage and poetry. Many of the pieces will be loaned to our office building for everybody to enjoy.
Clients had sent in their personal art projects for the exhibition throughout July and we were lucky enough to receive over 25 individual pieces from the people we support. Some pieces were individual whilst others were created by groups of clients. People from our Mental Health, Learning Disability support, Alcohol services and Homeless support were all represented with art work on the day, making the exhibition extra special as we were joined by many of the artists in the room.
Mark and Eleanor opened the event by talking about the St Anne’s values of Quality, Dignity and Respect as well as being Caring and Person Centred. Our visitors were invited to share their personal reflections on the art work by communicating their feelings and thoughts about the pieces. Seeing the talent and personalities of our artists was quite emotional for some people who related to the deeply personal messages that were being communicated through the art.
We thank everybody for supporting us with this activity, especially our generous artists who have agreed for us to keep their pieces safely at Head Office on display for all of our visitors to enjoy in the year ahead!
