Our 2025 Social Impact Report
Social impact is the difference that support makes to people’s lives, spaces, communities and wellbeing.
At St Anne’s, that impact is seen every day through people finding safer places to live, rebuilding confidence, improving their health, developing independence and feeling more connected to the communities around them.
Our latest Social Impact Report brings together the outcomes, stories and experiences that show what compassionate, person-centred support can make possible. It reflects the work taking place across our services in homelessness, learning disabilities, mental health, supporting women, substance use and housing. It also shows how support delivered in the right way can create lasting value, not only for individuals, but for families, communities and wider public services.
Support shaped around people
Across St Anne’s, our work is built around listening to people and understanding what matters most to them. That means involving people in decisions, recognising strengths and goals, and making sure support is shaped around their lives rather than fitting people into a fixed model.
This year, 83% of clients told us their support stayed the same or improved, while 91% said they were happy with the support they received. Tenants also told us that their homes and communities matter, with 87% saying their home felt safe and 76% saying St Anne’s makes a positive contribution to their neighbourhoods.
These figures are important, but they only tell part of the story. Behind them are people who feel listened to, respected and supported to move forward in a way that feels right for them.
Creating safer and more stable futures
For people experiencing homelessness, support is about much more than having somewhere to stay. It is about safety, dignity, health and the chance to rebuild after crisis.
Through services including Bevin Court and our Resource Centre, St Anne’s supported more than 300 people to move into safer and more stable situations. This work generated around £3.6 million in annual public savings, as well as £1.3 million in NHS savings through reduced emergency service use. One person described the impact, saying that crossing the doorstep of the Resource Centre helped them find their dignity again.
Supporting independence and a life without limits
Our learning disability services are built around the belief that everyone should be able to live the life they choose.
Over the past year, St Anne’s supported more than 1,000 people with learning disabilities to live more independently and without limits. To make sure this support is safe, respectful and person-centred, colleagues also completed more than 5,500 hours of specialist training.
This is where social impact becomes personal. It can be seen in someone building confidence, learning new skills, being part of their community or having more say over their own day to day life.
As one person shared, since their support started with St Anne’s, their life has improved dramatically.
Care that prevents crisis
Mental health support works best when it is timely, calm and consistent. This year, more than 200 people received personalised mental health support through St Anne’s, helping people feel heard, supported and less alone during difficult times.
By providing the right support at the right time, this work helped avoid crisis and created more than £300,000 in NHS savings, alongside around £600,000 in wider wellbeing and economic benefits through community-based support.
People told us that staff were friendly and non judgemental, showing the importance of relationships built on trust, respect and compassion.
Safe spaces for women
For women facing trauma, homelessness, mental health challenges or substance use, safety has to come first.
Our female-specific services offer safe, nurturing and trauma-informed support, helping women rebuild trust and move towards stability and independence. This year, more than 50 women in crisis received immediate safety and trauma-informed support, while 292 people were supported through specialist domestic-abuse work. St Anne’s also worked with 32 partner agencies as part of domestic-abuse, safeguarding and trauma-informed collaboration.
This work shows the strength of partnership, specialist knowledge and care that recognises the whole person. This year we have been proud to achieve a White Ribbon Accreditation.
Recovery, dignity and hope
Recovery is one of the most powerful forms of social impact.
Across our substance use services, more than 300 people accessed detox, rehab or harm reduction support. The report also shows a 94% detox completion rate, reflecting high quality, person-centred support rooted in dignity, kindness and harm reduction.
One person described the programme as life-saving, saying staff were caring, person-centred and holistic.
These words say so much about the difference support can make when people are met with compassion rather than judgement.
Homes that help people thrive
A safe home creates the foundation for health, recovery, independence and belonging.
During 24/25, our housing teams delivered more than 17,000 hours of support to over 150 tenants, helping people maintain safe and healthy homes. Repairs teams completed 97% of repairs on time, helping prevent unsafe conditions and health risks.
By sustaining tenancies and preventing eviction, this work generated up to £2 million in national savings. But the real value can also be seen in the pride people feel in their homes, with one reflection from the report describing happier, more comfortable tenants and a renewed sense of pride.
Lasting value through social care
The report estimates that St Anne’s delivers £14 to £15 million in public-sector savings each year by preventing homelessness, supporting recovery, enabling independent living, improving mental health and maintaining safe homes.
That financial value matters, especially at a time when public services are under increasing pressure. The heart of social impact is centred around people – it’s found in everyday relationships, small steps forward, safer homes, trusted support and people being able to imagine a different future for themselves.
